There are consequences to running your diesel engine beyond it’s designed limit. It’s called overspeed, and it can greatly reduce the life of your engine or it can cause catastrophic failure.
On July 25th, JLG announce the Positive Air Shut Off System to reduce potential engine damage. According to John Boehme, JLG senior product manger, “This option system reduces the risk of potential engine damage [because] it completely blocks the engine air intake system, cutting off the uncontrolled external fuel source and the air required to keep the engine running.”
This option also provided overspeed shutdown protection fro diesel engines and is the most effective way to prevent a runaway situation.
