We started West Coast Equipment in 1984. Three years later was the crash of 1987 or as some refer to it as “Black Monday”. (Reuters)
Then there were the crashes of 1997, 2001, and the infamous housing crash of 2008. There’s been other up’s and down’s as well, but not only has West Coast Equipment survived, we’ve thrived.
What’s our secret? 4 Things Every Contractor Must Know
1. Learn from other companies outside of your industry. As independent business owners, we watch both the short-term and long-term market trends. We study why companies like Toy’s R Us, go out of business, and learn from their mistakes (hint: lack of innovation and listening to customer needs). We also watch what others are doing well and reverse engineer their successes.
2. Innovate by listening to your customer’s needs. One of the most important aspects to keeping your business running through uncertain times, is listening to and responding to your customer’s needs in innovative ways. For example, we know our customers wanted to be able to track their rental equipment, billing cycles, and other account data, so we installed a customer portal that they can access through the website.
3. In depth product knowledge. You should always know more about your products and services then your customers do. Education and decades of experience make the team at West Coast Equipment one of the industry’s go-to authorities. Last month, Dave Rubidoux was interviewed for Lift and Access magazine for his insight on the increase use of 12,000lb telehandler.
4. First-in-class customer service. We know that our customers have a lot of choices when it comes renting and purchasing telehandlers, forklifts, etc… Which is why for over thirty years we’ve been providing quality customer service.
When you call West Coast Equipment for a rental, you speak to an employee at West Coast not someone at a call center.
If you need service, we can be at the job site within hours to service your vehicle. We constantly invest in new equipment and training because it’s what our customers want and need to keep their business in the black.
Call West Coast Equipment first for parts, service, rentals, and sales. Here’s to another 30 years!
